State National Insurance Company

In its first year of eligibility for an "alpha rating" by the A.M. Best Company, State National Insurance Company, Inc. was 'A' rated and has maintained this rating to this day. An A rating refers to a company that, in the opinion of A.M. Best, has shown overall excellent performance. According to the 1996 Best's Insurance Reports - Property/Casualty, a company with this rating shows a strong capacity to meet their obligations to policyholders over extended periods of time. Management's philosophy is driven toward long-term growth and profitability and State National Insurance Company is less leveraged than the industry composite.

Leverage may be defined as "Stress on Capital" which is the amount of stress placed on an insurance company's capital as a result of operations and financial practices. Companies with conservative leverage ratios or capitalization are better able to withstand adverse changes in underwriting results, investment returns, and economic conditions. In effect, SNIC's conservative leverage ratio gives their clients the peace of mind that comes from doing business with a company built on its financial strength and security.
